Cheltenham Tips – Day 2

**These are my tips for 2008. Please view the 2009 Cheltenham Festival tips here**

UPDATE: Cheltenham abandoned today due to high winds. I know the feeling. My last girlfriend dumped me for exactly the same reasons. Ho hum…

————————–

I managed to pick up Kruguyrova each way @ 14/1 so managed to cover my arse a wee bit yesterday otherwise it would have been a painful start to the Cheltenham Festival for me. Looking back at some of the tips from the experts, though, I wasn’t alone in getting my fingers burnt on Day 1.

Anyway, onwards and upwards and let’s have a look at my Cheltenham tips for Day 2.

Ballymore Novices Hurdle – Aigle D’Or @ 9/2
Royal & SunAlliance Chase – Silverburn @ 11/2
Queen Mother Champion Chase – Master Minded @ 5/2
Coral Cup – Leg Spinner @ 9/2
Peter O’Sullevan National Hunt Chase – Beantown @ 7/1
Weatherby Champion Bumper – Apt Approach @ 4/1

The prices are the Totesport prices as of silly o’clock Wednesday morning (just before 1am).

The Atheist from Are You A Left Arm Chinaman rightly pointed out that I ought to mention some of the cricket related horses running.

Rather foolishly I didn’t back Katchit @ 10/1 on Day 1 so I’m not going to miss out on a chance to back Leg Spinner. Interestingly enough Warnes Way is also running in the Coral Cup if you fancied an each way punt @ 25/1 although you might as well just send me your money instead for what it’s worth…

A rather tenuous link but one I’m going to run with is in the first race of the day, the Ballymore Properties Novices Hurdle, and that’s Fiveforthree. Well worth a cheeky little 50p each way at 7/1.

    Hi Rach,

I think Master Minded has just got the edge over Voy Por Ustedes. Even though he’s gone up in weights since the last meeting, my feeling is that Ruby Walsh will be the difference. It’s a great race, though, and I wouldn’t rule out Tamarinbleu. Shame we have to wait until tomorrow now!

C’mon, pin your colours to the mast. Gold Cup. Kauto Star or Denman? Or is it going to be an outsider? I’d like to think Denman can do it but it’ll take something special so I’ll probably look at the each way market for some value for the third place. Neptune Collonges at 28/1 with Totesport looks handy :)

Are you sure you can trust a horse named after a podgy Aussie leggie?

    Where will it lead you?

    Ruin, that’s where.

Hmmm…Warnes Way could potentially be money down the drain whereas Leg Spinner has got a genuine chance of winning the race.

Anyway ruin isn’t such a bad place to be y’know…
