Cricket Podcasts

Just a quick post this morning as I’ve been away the last few days and am catching up on my emails in preparation for a lazy day in front of the telly watching cricket.

The Times is running a weekly series of cricket podcasts during the World Cup. The first one is online and features Christopher Martin-Jenkins, Chris Cowdrey, Chris Adams and Shane Warnes gym buddy, Dwayne Leverock - the 19 stone Bermudian spinner.

New Look for Flintoff’s Ashes

Since the World Cup is about to start I thought it was time to give Flintoff’s Ashes something of a makeover so here we are!

The code that sits behind the scenes is a lot cleaner than the old site so, in theory, it should load up a lot quicker. I’ve also tried to make it easier for you to subscribe to the RSS feeds as well as making the commenting a little easier. If you’ve got one of those funny little Gravatar thingies it’ll show up now too!

Well, assuming that the Gravatar site is working, of course

There are a couple of little things that need ironing out in terms of the formatting (i.e. the links to the 2005 Ashes series don’t seem to be in Test order any more) and a couple of the pages don’t look quite right so I’ll re-edit those but I’ve tested it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer and it all looks to be OK but if you find anything odd as you’re mooching around, please let me know.

England v Australia - World Cup warm up

I was watching the first hour or so of this earlier today and everything was looking rosy. Vaughny has back in the runs, the Bell End had gone past his fifty and it looked like we might end up with a good score.

Popped out for a couple of hours, come back and we’re all out for 197! What’s the all about? It’s a reverse in form for me, that’s for sure. We normally do better when I’m not watching.

Oh well, it’s only a warm up. It doesn’t mean anything, right?

Right?

Strauss misses out as England waltz to victory

There. My first really shit headline of 2007. Couldn’t help meself, you know. It just came to me in a flash after I read that Andrew Strauss hasn’t been picked for the first World Cup warm up match against Bermuda.

The fact that the match hasn’t even been played yet makes the headline even more rubbish. In a way I’m hoping England lose because that will make it not only crap but also inaccurate.

I think I’m going to have a lie down.

Brilliant

There have been many articles on t’internet about Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif missing the World Cup but none made me laugh as hard as the one on King Cricket.

King Cricket: Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif to miss World Cup

Thanks for cheering me up, fellas!
