Now what?
I’m still in something of a state of shock, to be honest. We actually bloody well won a game of cricket. I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to win.
Mind you, we didn’t half make it hard for ourselves, though. It wasn’t the best game of cricket I’ve ever seen but a win is a win. Bit disappointing to see Vaughny get injured but that was always a possibility. He was rushed back into playing and clearly wasn’t fully fit. Oh well. Fred is back at the helm again. Normal service will be resumed on Friday.

Well Mike, I am back in England- a few months of travel in the hot climates of Spain, Africa and Australia. Now I did promise to comment about the games when I was out there but as I arrived in Melbourne we were already 3-0 and the Ashes gone. Gutted. And so I kinda lost the motivation to write. Apologies.
All I can say is that the atmosphere was great - sitting in the thick of the barmy army at the MCG (and to a lesser extent at the SCG) we certainly outsung the self titled “Boony Army” all through every match. We may have been tonked in every game but at least we have a “mental and mad” fan base - the “loyalist cricket supporters that the world has ever had”……Our singing was actually no consolation whatsoever as the Australians only have one song at best.
Anyway, Im losing my thread here. Its hard to find any positives as I sit here at the age of 30 on my Mums computer looking for a job - All I can think of is:
- We lost the Ashes 5-0
- KP and Vaughan are injured
- Freddie is captain again and Fletcher is still coach
- Its raining, grey, cold and miserable in England
- Im skint
- We lost the Ashes 5-0
OK, its a bit negative, howabout these:
- Jimmy Anderson is finalling fufilling his promise…?
- The tour is almost over
- I still have a tan
Im really struggling here Mike, help me out please mate!

Well consider the latest series of drubbings in the one dayers… first 120 a/o by NZ then 110 by Aus last night… well we all thought it couldn’t get much worse.
This tour is still far from over.

Hi James and welcome back. I can totally understand you not feeling motivated to write anything as I haven’t been able to come up with anything for two weeks myself!
Anyway, the positives. Ermm…it’s getting lighter at night which means the English cricket season must be getting closer.
Good luck with the job hunt. I know how tough it is!

Hi Matt - Yeah still two more games for England to rewrite the history books. In some sad, masochistic sort of way I’d love us to record our lowest ever ODI score in the next week. It would really finish it off quite nicely.
