So Mohammad Yousuf has just become the leading Test run scorer in a calendar year. His innings of 124 in the Test match against the West Indies took him to 1788 runs for the year at an average of 99.33.

Not bad but he wouldn’t get into the Iver Heath team. I have yet to see him throw his bat off the pitch after being given out LBW to a ball that pitched a mile outside leg stump. He’s never once fielded at deep third man drinking a pint of scrumpy and I’ve definitely never heard him call his batting partner a useless bastard for not taking an easy single.

Mohammad Yousuf? You can keep him.
