That’s wheelie nasty

Stuart MacGill

Stuart MacGill has been giving Ashley Giles a bit of stick in the press over the last couple of days. He’s dismissed Giles as being defensive and says that his inclusion in the England squad is irrelevant to Australia as they prepare for the Ashes series.

He may have a point. The Wheelie Bin bowed 160 overs in the 2005 Ashes series and only took 10 wickets at a cost of 57.8 runs. His strike rate was 96. When you compare the two spin bowlers in a head-to-head from the last Ashes series you can see that MacGill had a much better strike rate as he made every delivery count.
